2nd Bottesford Scout Group Our links were made with the Bottesford Scouts in 1992 when Phil, our Scout leader moved to Bottesford. Since then we have had several camps and activities with Phil's troop. Phil introduced canoeing and abseiling to many scouts and encouraged our present scout leaders to teach and supervise these activities in our troop today. Many of our camps together have been at Park End in the Forest of Dean, where there are plenty of activities to do and lots of things to see. D.P.S.G. BOCHUM HARPEN ANN FRANK & MARTIN LUTHER KING In 1996 our Scouts went to France on the first Europe camp for over 25 years, we hoped to meet up with some scouts from France but instead met up with a German Group from Bochum. Since we met there has been several joint camps. We went to Bochum in 1997 for our summer camp and they came here for a camp in 1998 held at Victoria Farm. Following the 2 week camp at the farm, we went with the Bochum scouts to the SALOPIA 98 INTERNATIONAL CAMP held near Oswestry, where we enjoyed many activities and local visits. In 1999 both groups enjoyed a joint camp at Bayeux in France.We camped with our German friends on there own site, making it a fantastic 12 day camp having fun and making many new friends. More recently, a small group of our scouts were invited to Gillwell Park to meet up with our friends. |
